Home Sewing

Sewing

When the air cools, and the windows are open,
I wander back into the studio.

I fondle the fabrics, relishing the textures,
the muted colors, no brights here.

The bark cloth called to me.
I spied buttons, a perfect set,
rescued from a dress of my Mother.

They were joined into a new tote for the fall.
Four fabrics blended into a flirty, scalloped bag.

At times, the sewing, it feels like coming home.

I love what you have done with this bark cloth (my favourite fabric). The buttons are a great detail. You are such a clever woman. And artistic.

Beautiful fabrics and a beautiful bag! I like how you incorporated buttons that were your mothers.

My kind of colors too. I hope you start selling these. Would be a shame to just keep them for yourself:)

It is lovely Z. I really dig those scallops. I am for anything with scallops or ruffles these days. The fabrics you put together are so perfect for a Fall bag. I am so itching to sew something lately too. It must be in the air...

Beautiful! I wish I had learned to sew by hand or machine. I've joined a yarn and fiber group so hopefully can pick up some techniques along the way. Enjoy your day. Best wishes, Tammy

A beautiful, simple bag that lets the fabrics do most of the talking - I've never used bark cloth, in fact I don't think I've ever heard of it before! But I do love the muted colours. Sometimes I am drawn to a bright colour, but never seem to be able to make anything with them - soft, subtle colours with beautiful textures are what makes my fingers sing!

It's a beauty, z. And I love that you used buttons from your Mother's dress.
I started a little embroidery project yesterday - when the air cools...
Have a lovely day,
