Blessings and things that made 2022 a good year

December 1

Consider this my "sort of an advent"

#1 My home

Due to many events I almost 

left this home after 29 years. I've managed to stay, and not a day

goes by that I am not grateful that I have a safe and warm place to live.

So many in this world do not.

Six More

LR tree

same as last year

Even the spice cabinet gets a wee bit 

I went from doing a minimal to a medium.

My thinking was this - who knows how many more Christmases 

in this house there will be. It is Nick's first time here

in our home and all four have been 

under mega stress with their careers...so

It may look like a lot of work but it's not at all. It is still just plunking.

The vintage jars here are always out. I just swap out the

insides and then store the "swapped out" in the box

of holiday fillers. 

The table display took 2 minutes. I lay down 5 picks with stems toward center.

Quickly tucked in one strand of twinkle lights and lay the 

carved balls on top to hide the stems. Those same balls

are repeated on the table bowl and the sideboard. See previous posts.

Trees, deer, mercury glass and eucalyptus are everywhere.

Green, grey, brown and mustard are repeated

with black accents for good measure. 

The pink is just for surprise and a chuckle.

The gifts under the LR tree will be brown paper and black accents.

Some will set atop the black sled in front. 

While I am decorating I am purging 

anything not used this year.

( except for my beloved House of Hatten)

And I may just find a spot for it this year..

Now that tree takes time!

A Plunking We Will Go

 Gather greens and Plunk.

All reproduction, or new, Shiny Brites bought several yeas ago, 

with some other glitter stuff thrown in for good measure.

Below my views from couch each evening.

Whatever did we do before twinkle lights?

A tree in LR and small touches in bedrooms 

over next few days and it's fini.

Bit by Bit

Bit by bit, tackling the small stuff first.

Doing a little each day, so I'm not overwhelmed 

and there is no mess in the house.

As is my pattern, I do not remove decor,

I just add to it.

Trees, greenery, houses and stars will be once 

again on pete and repeat.

Getting cozy in here.

Needing a pick me up, I popped into 

Ralph Jones Display on my way

home from a Dr's appt.

I could have snapped 100 photos.

I wanted to look around more than I wanted to 

snap, so here is all you get.

Gets one in the mood for sure.

More Studio

I had some questions and requests, so here are more views. 

Made this out of a vintage metal laundry stand years ago.

Bears were my children's

The studio is tiny as you can see.

Curtains frame the hallway to guest rooms.

For privacy those curtains are dropped so they

can move to and from bath etc. 

Barn painting from DD

and because someone will wonder why the white cup thing on the side?

For years it held my drink when the cabinet was behind my desk.

 I was going to remove, but found it a perfect spot to park my cell

when I'm upstairs.

This is old chicken coop turned vertical.

Holds overflow fabric that doesn't fit in large green cabinet

 or open one on wall.

Red plaid bear is made from flannel robe of PapPap Rennie's.

I made one for dad and one for me.

There are special things tucked into every space in my home.

All day, every day, one will catch my eye, and I'm 

reminded of a loved one.

A modern "designed" home would not work for me.

I go to turn on a light and there is a heart shaped rock,

 a flannel bear, a crystal paperweight my mom loved,

my father and grandfather's bibles.

Comfort and joy is not just for the holidays.

I'm still enjoying playing with paint.

Each of these strips starts as a geli printed, painted piece,

that is then strip cut by hand and woven.

Hours pass as I'm lost in the process.
