First holiday Batch
Peanut Butter Blossoms
A Classic Holiday Cookie around here
My favorite part?
I race to see if I can unwrap the kisses
before the cookies come out.
Silly I know, but it's part of the tradition for me.
Tomorrow I make the dough for my
Mexican Chocolate Hearts
which I'll bake Friday.
Friday I'll make the dough for
Pepparkakor ( a gingerbread type)
which I'll bake Saturday.
Tonight I have another bar cookie to make.
The name escapes me.
(Snickerdoodle Bars - came to me 12 hours later)
I used to make 8-12 varieties for many years
and drive myself crazy with
multiple cookie exchanges etc.
Now I make the 4 types my family enjoys
and we gobble them all up.
Well, maybe a few go to friends here and there.
Thursday is Darling Daughter's B-Day,
so no baking.
Remember that young girl I dropped
off at NYU a few years back?
Thursday she is 23
Graduated, Working, In Love,
Living in NYC
Turns out I will have a house full of
young folks here after Christmas as well as before.
Seems Hannah and her beau have several
friends coming in for New Years and I am
already out of bedrooms.
Time for the blow up in the living room.
A loud and busy full house...
Time for soups and chili and casseroles..
I'll go easy on myself and buy the breads...
Lord knows we'll have enough cookies
and how happy this mama will be.
May you be as blessed this Holiday Season
Z
bet you can see my grin from
wherever you are

Just wanted to say I love your blog and visit quite often. Now I gotta add Peanut Butter Blossoms to my list! Tomorrow I will be making Pecan Tassies and Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes for a Christmas party Friday.
Question: I noticed your counter tops are ceramic tile. We will be remodeling our kitchen this next year and I am trying to decide on counter tops. I love yours. What are the pros and cons about yours.
I will check back later on your answer.
I love oldgreymareblog! :)

Sounds like the BEST Christmas ever! I envy your house full of your child's friends, we used to have Wesley's band here all the time, I sure miss those days.....
I remember that photo well. Whenever you post about your daughter, that image comes to mind,I was so scared for you leaving your child in the big city like that!
Happy Birthday to you daughter Suzan!!!
It sounds like your home will not only be filled with the Christmas spirit but with love and lots of it :)
I had to smile when I read about your 'race' :) That is something that I would do, no doubt :)Your cookies look great and I look forward to seeing your Mexican Heart cookies too!
Have a blessed day!
~Sharon
Sounds like a wonderful time ahead my friend and I'm happy for you!
I just put up our tree finally and will spend the rest of the day adorning it with ornaments, garlands and candles. My parents and my sister and brother in law are going to be with us for Christmas eve and my niece and her new boyfriend for Christmas day and the next day we're going to see my other sister and her family. Roxy is doing all the vegan baking and cooking so lucky me :)
Happy Holidays to you and yours Z!
xoxo~ Carola

I do see that big smile!! Love all those cookies! I am going to try baking some sugar cookies with Tiger this year. I know it will be fun no matter what!! Love a house full at the holidays. ENJOY!!
Sounds like you will have a wonderful Christmas!! Those cookies look delicious and they are indeed one of my favorite Christmas cookies. Love to you.

Kelly,
I am so proud of those countertops. I had a handyman helping me with the edges but I demo-ed and cut and grouted them babies!!
Long story -short. At the time I was still hoping to move out of lala land but knew I needed new counters regardless. House came with white standard ceramic tile...NOW everyone else was doing marble and granite but I am just not a fan...My realtor friend was distressed saying I must use granite for resale but I thought If I stay in this house I'll hate the granite so ..tile it was..I got a great price- they were discontinued..and did so much work myself. I am still very happy with them..Feels warm and cozy....and 6? years later I am still in this house...
Advantages? I think both are pretty easy care..it is just a different look but most folks prefer granite or soapstone and such..
BUT what I really wanted was concrete or butcher block and I could not get that here...lol
Oh yummy, peanut butter cookies....so good.......Beautiful daughter, Happy Birthday to her, Happy Holidays, Francine.
SO happy they are staying through both holidays, Z - that's absolutely wonderful. Keep baking - you've inspired me to start this afternoon! XOXO
the goodies . . . the crowd . . . the laughter . . . it sounds like Christmas will be perfect at your home.
Your cookies look yummy, but I know the sweetest part of your holiday will be having your beautiful daughter home along with her beau and all of their friends! I hope your son will be able to come home too, that will be the icing on the cake!

I can see your smile and hear your humming....your cookie trays remind me of my sister Micki's professional kitchen...you are so tidy and precise !! I wish you a beautiful Christmas, Suz, filled with happiness and love...hope to get a post up this weekend, but it is crazy around here with workmen trying to finish up downstairs...

All the best to you and your family and friends...
GREAT post!
Well now I know what that bright light was shining from the South last night, your smile!! Merry Christmas Z!!!!!!
23? Nooooooooooo. How did that happen so quick? A woman of the world. Mine are now 38 (nooooooo), 36 (no way), and 30 (my tiny little baby).
What fun you all will have this Christmas!!! And that's some serious cookie baking. I just do one cookie pan at a time - barely fits in our tiny oven ha-haaaaa. Hubby & I will be spending a quiet Christmas at home this year, looking forward to pics of the grand-babies with their new Christmas toys and calls from family.
Thanks for finding me once again out in bloggy-land what with a new url and all (someone completely different is using the old one).
Merry, Merry, Z!
L as in Lin :)
OH! And, Z. When you get a sec (which may be days and days and even more days from now), could you please tell me how to remove the # counter thingy on Friend Connect?
Lin
How did I forget it was Hannah's birthday too. Wish her a happy birthday for me. Can we switch ages?
On a serious note I will pray for your friends. So sad :(
hugs
Carole
