Too Much Fun

It is a given. I cannot take a decent photo
if I am having a good time.
Of course I'm not sure I ever take a good photo,
passable yes, but good?
Oh baby, there are a zillion blogs out there
with beautiful shots, I usually do
not come to mind.
This is the only one out of a dozen that you can
ascertain there are people in the photo, not trees.
Yep, that bad.....

This is toward the end of the evening of
the potluck at oldgreymare today,
and I'm missing a photo of 6 other pals,
but they would have been ticked (big time)
if I posted it, trust me.
SOOOOO much food, all delicious.
Great friends
 Great conversations,
usually occurring all at once...

We all ended up near the kitchen of course.
I'm not sure why I have a living room,
except to throw dog toys down the length
 for Howie to fetch.
These are wonderful, beautiful women,
all incredibly talented, kind, generous and loving.
Lucky me

This week is all about kits for
the Upcoming Gathering.
Lots of paper - reams, lots of cutting - hours,
lots of music blasting from the iPad
to see me through.
Hope your week is off to a good start.

and get this..
one of the gals asked me to autograph
her copy of WWC!
what a hoot!
SO they're all watching me in the kitchen
as I searched my brain for something witty
to write below my photo and I froze.
Good thing Sue is the only one to ask.
I told her I would have it done by
the Gathering on Dec 10th.
That should give me enough time :D
Seems autographing is in the
same category as my photos.....
Needs work Z, needs work.

It can be very difficult to take and indoor photo at night. Be nice to yourself... the photo could have been MUCH worse. I happen to like it!

It's a great photo...shows the spirit of the evening.

I can handle your publicity if you wish.

lol - the things that catch you off guard huh? You may think you don't take a great picture, but the one you posted shows perfectly what an evening with friends is - you can see the happiness, and the intentness on their faces.
Happy cutting, and good luck with your autograph!

I'm SO delighted to have found your wonderful blog via WWC - your home and style are totally awesome - I'm your newest follower! And we don't live TOO far away from each other - I'm north of SLC a little bit. Glad to meet you!

I take lousy people shots too...that's why I have so few of them on my blog!

Photos should be judged by the atmosphere they capture not necessarily their clarity. There's real warmth in that photo Z.

Perfection is highly overrated. Real life, really living, is the 'bestest' possible thing. Your photo makes me wish I was there, or at the very least, makes me want to pour myself a glass of wine. Someday I hope to join you on one of your crafty adventures. As for the wine, I'll wait to have some this evening - it tastes better when the work's done.

I'm with Jill, that perfect photo just makes me want to pull up a chair or better yet, squeeze in the middle of the two girls on the couch. It looks like a perfect night, good food, good wine, good girl conversation. t. xoxoxoox

Are you kidding me?! You are the one that inspired me to take pictures in the "sepia" mode.
I LOVE the pictures of your home...always!
Looks like a fine group of women, having a great time.

Suzan, your words are always so descriptive that you don't even need pictures to show us all that fun. Ann

A friend recently suggested I check out your blog -- WOW! Your photography is wonderful, you're too hard on yourself. Just got the WWC. What a nice article, just wish it had been longer. Do you ever sell kits of the Gathering projects or do tutorials of any of them? When I win the lottery (oops, think you have to buy a ticket to win), I'm attending one of the Gatherings, until then I'll enjoy your lovely blog.

A FABULOUS evening among some fabulously talented women...yes, you could cut the creative vibes with a knife! Thanks for counting me in - you are DEFINITELY the "Hostess with the mostest", with an incredible eye for decorating (though I know it all came from your heart), and one of the most creative souls I've met! You ROCK, Z...and your camera skills are perfect...Tanya

I think it's a great photo....not many can actually capture that je ne sais pas quoi - or the MAGIC - of an evening like that...you captured both beautifully - almost like it's a tangible, palpable, thing in the room, hovering around your guests.....Only thing better would have be to have been there....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Don't sell yourself short! I love the way you used the sepia tone to remove all the distraction so all you see is a group of friend having a wonderful time. I think it's alovely picture!
