CATCH UP not ketchup

A "Heinz 57dog is a mixed breed dog of uncertain ancestry- a mutt.
The name refers to the "57 varieties" Heinz slogan.

Well, you can tell my sense of humor is still intact.
The Holiday has been wonderful
and all my focus has been on the kids.
Dearest son has returned to NYC,
but will be passing through here
late January on his move to LA.
Darling Daughter is enjoying  her local friends
and we are being lazy goats in front
of the tube, catching a mixed bag of films.
This illness/plague whatever..
knocked my socks off and not in the good way
damn.. :D
I have accomplished little,
gone nowhere and seen no one.
Home is where the heart is..
and where my slipper socks and jammies are.

Carole Sidlow is teaching a  fabulous ribbon class here
on January 7th (2 spots left) and
we will hold it in the converted studio/garage,
so since I cannot access my storage boxes,
Christmas will remain up until after the class.
Makes me a mite uneasy,
( my organization gene anxious to get back to work),
so instead I am overhauling my studio and hall closet,
and making a big bloomin' mess while I'm at it.
I decided to move all my paper supplies
closer to me since that seems to be
where my hearts desire is lately.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday.
I have been reading you all and keeping up,
and I hope that everyone's New Year
brings them joy and happiness.

I am still debating my "word" or mantra for next year.
In 2011 the word was Begin
I feel I did that one justice,
so what should 2012 be about?
I am pondering these:

bravery
simplicity
patience
industriousness
????
I could use some of all of the above.
I have been inspired all year by
a lovely young woman Carolynn at
the Anchor and the Bird.
Please visit if you are not familiar
with her year of good deeds (in process).

Thinking perhaps I could/should
attempt the same good-deed daily tasks.
I donate 10% of my income each year and it is
not always easy, but it is easy enough to write checks.

I am thinking I need to give back in other ways,
where it might not be so easy,
where I must trod the extra mile,
and as I tap this out I may have decided that
this desire should be manifested in my 2012 word.

GIVE
would encompass the other
four words under consideration
so yup, GIVE it is.
YAY my first decision of the new Year.
What do you plan to do with your next 365 days?
I plan to grow out my hair since
 I got scalped today.
only pixies should wear pixie cuts

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I've decided my word is serenity. That's what I crave. I have volunteered before for the local animal shelter and been a Wheels On Wheels volunteer. You might think of that. Helping the elderly gave me great pleasure. I hope, in 2012, to get an Etsy shop growing. Grow my savings account. Spend more time with the grandchildren. Little 3 year old Marley stayed some with me today, and we had a grand old time!

GIVE...it's the perfect word for 2012. But...I also like your 2011 word...BEGIN...which I need to do in so many areas of my life.
Somehow...I caught your cold along with all the inspiration I get from your blog...so thanks for that! lol
Just kidding although I do now have a Christmas cold. Here's hoping that the New Year brings good things!
Feel better! :)

I have enjoyed your post today and feel very similar about several items. December was a disaster for me getting sick and not being home at all. Your word for 2012 is excellent and how wonderful for you to be generous to others. May you have a Happy Healthy New Year...

And, I just freaked out a little...you have a big RED (R-E-D!!!) bottle of ketchup, front and center on your blog! That's a mighty bold color deviation from the beautiful beiges. Good girl! :-)

A wonderful word for 2012. I haven't decided on one yet - I tend not to do that sort of thing. But maybe I should? Hmmm. Let me ponder.

Feel better soon!

Go gently Z...still on the road to recovery, I hope?
GIVE...what a beautiful sentiment...and a huge challenge all wrapped up in one.
Looking forward to the ride into 2012 with you. All good wishes.
And as for the hairdo...I'm sure you look as cute as a button!

I absolutely love your blog, dear-new-friend! Wish you lived just down the street...or I did!! :) I'd walk my Dr. Pepper over in hand, with my grubbies on, and sit down in the curled up couch and say, "Suz...you are one terrific woman to have raised such sweet charmers, remain sane, and have that sense of creative style and great humor to go along with it!" I think GIVE is right up your ally. Bet you've done it all your life and now you're just dedicating a tag to it. :) Best wishes for a wonderful New 2012! Hugs.

Wonderful word Z! If I can steel one from you I'll take Patience because Patience is a virtue I don't have but need!
Sounds like you had a cosy time with your kids, but sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well again.
For the new year 2012 I wish you only the best of health!
Happy new year dear Z!

I like the idea of GIVE. Doesn't have to money even. Our time is just as valuable and so many people could use a bit of it. Happy year of newness! Ann

One form of flu or another seems to be making the rounds this Christmas and New Years. Hope it stays away from here and hope you will be back to good soon. I think my New Years word would need to actually be 4 words - OUT OF COMFORT ZONE. I really have to force myself to do things that I know God wants me to do when they are OOCF. And confession, a lot of times I just don't do it.

Well, my friend - that should be an easy one for you seeing as you have given from your heart ever since I've known you. My word is "balance" - yeah - like that will ever happen. And, yup - me too on growing the hair thing....Never trust a stylist who gets so caught up in a conversation she forgets to notice how much she is cutting off....(I looked good with a pixie cut when I was 11 - not so much now.....) Wishing you a wonderful new year full of joy and adventure - and giving....Smiles & New Year Hugs (unless, of course, you're still contagious) ~ Robin

Dear Z,
So sorry that you have had a nasty virus....our daughter hasn't been well and had to miss the family wedding that we all went to on New Years Eve ! Hope you are now feeling a little better and, my advice would be to stay in those jammies and recline on the sofa and eat and drink. Dr. Jackie's well known remedy !!
Here's to a wonderful New Year filled with wonderful moments.
Your word for the year ' GIVE ' is a perfect one and I know that you will do it justice. Much love. XXXX
