Normal People

What do normal people do when it is 2 am and they cannot sleep?
Do they make a winter wonderland for their departed relatives?
Is it just me? Am I admitting this?

Since I've exposed my quirks frequently here
 I will go one further.
My father's clock and the crystal ball?
I do stuff like this in my home...tuck in something that tickles
my fancy, the meaning observed by no one but me.

The Big Ben an homage to time passing.
The crystal ball, a hat's off to my
Great Grandma Mamer, said to
be a witch of sorts, at least to the extent that
she would predict the sex of unborn babies.
Also a query as to what the future
holds if the past is represented here.

Remember we were discussing normalcy....?

The Z collection, a gift from darling daughter.
Photos of natural items discovered in our yard,
 then formed into Z's.

Still not sleeping, of course everyone decides to
make a coffee filter wreath around 3 am?
Probably should do this when more awake,
or you receive burned finger tips from glue gun.
Ouch!

An old friend around for many Christmases.

 Merry Merry!

I'll be napping this afternoon- just leave a message.

Whenever I come here, I feel like I'm steppping back in time. I think it's the sepia photo effects, and all of your wonderful decorating skills.
Hope you get some rest today.
I love what you did with the trees and snow last night.

Love it!! As a life long insomniac may I recommend Advil PM - it's a good thing. Everything looks beautiful, the homage is a wonderful idea!

I'm thinking you do some of your best work at that time of the morning! I love that you decorated for the relatives...how special all those little touches are. LOVE Hannah's Z picture (OK, you knew this was coming...do you frequent Z Gallery? LOVE that store), and Prim Santa and the new wreath, though you might have needed the coffee to stay awake tomorrow morning!

Sorry you couldn't sleep....I go through stages of this myself, but I usually don't get up and do anything, just lie there thinking about all I need to do.

Beautiful vignette with such meaning and I like your coffee filter wreath......I really needto make one of these for myself.

I think I'll try to sell it, but if it doesn't sell it will fit nicely in my office where I do have some touches of blue.

Hope you have a nice week....last week of school for the kiddos which means I get to stay home more:)

Take care,

Kathleen

I am enamored of your vignettes. Love that you add a little quirkiness to make you smile.

You know, I was thinking I needed a wreath hanging from the stairs. Maybe a coffee filter wreath.....

What a great idea..the Christmas for your loved ones who've passed. I Must Do This!

Can I do it at a normal hour, though, or is it only to be done at 3am??

Beautiful..and I love the "Z's" I may have to do that too..but not in "Z's"..you understand..not that I don't like "Z's" you see..but one would wonder why I had chosen "Z's" instead of "C's"..

{Can you tell I don't get much sleep either?..but I would KNOW not to use a Hot. Glue. GUN..I'm just sayin'...}

I like that - sliding things in that have meaning to you, adding layers of memories through objects - very cool.
I also really like the coffee filter wreath - I dyed a bunch of filters months ago on a rare day off when I knew I had the whole day home alone. The next day when hubby went to make the coffee he remarked on the dire shortage of coffee filters when he knew for sure he had just bought some...??? I fessed up but pointed out that as I had dyed them with coffee, we could still use them - in a pinch!
That night he came home from running errands at the grocery store with three jumbo packages -in case I had another day off coming any time soon!
Hope you had a good nap...zzz!

It's perfect. Well, except for the sleep deprivation part, it's perfect. Really. What a handsome man, your father, and a wonderful tribute to the Ghost of Christmas Past.

If this is what you come up with at 3:00 in the morning then I say you should be up more mornings! This is a fabulous display! The wreath I'm gonna have to try. Thanks for such a wonderful walk through. Have a great day and nap.

I am glad to know other people are so hyped up this time of year they can't sleep right alone with me.
I have had a terrible time sleeping, like you 2 or 3 am and my body says us get up.

I have my Mom & Grandma pictures out and just thought why haven't I encluded my grandpa so now I will. It is so hard for us left behind, sort of speaking.

My little sister lost her husband in Sept and is having a terrible Christmas, please say a prayer for her.

I absoluty love your arrangement and like all your drawers also LOL

I want a coffe filter wreath also.

Love the homage to family Suzan!
I have a spot like that too with photos of family long passed. For some reason it gives me comfort to have them close by and remember them especially at this time of the year!
I even light a candle most evenings near them to say "Hi, I love you".
Maybe it's age but I feel closer to them now than I ever have...
Oh and I love the coffee filter wreath! Ideas with that concept could be endless....

Hi Z
Hey maybe that is my problem... I sleep like a baby, no 2 am's for me. I bet I would get a lot done!
YOur displays look great. Love the little special things tucked in. Haven't tried a coffee filter anything yet... on my to do list.
Many Blessings today

Well it's obvious that you and "her" share some of the same um...."traits". I can usually find "her" playing with vignettes when "she" is not in bed sleeping. HOWEVER, they sure don't look as wonderful as yours do! Seriously gorgeous and LOVING that you create using those things which have meaning to you! Yep, I think that next time I can't sleep I'm going to come on over to your house - MUCH more interesting and fun! Of course if it's okay with Howie ;)

Purrs! Enjoy your nap!

And to think I usually stare at the television or read... Now I am inspired because I love your tribute to loved ones and I am most curious who that "old friend" is. And anyway, why be normal? Loved this post. Ann
