After making several advents like these and
then teaching a couple classes in making them,
this is the only one I have left.
It stays up year round in my bedroom.
The frame is from my Great Aunt Iva.
Day 25 is my father's bible.
Many other items are from family long since passed.
A friend purchased it in the first 2 seconds after we pulled back the tent flaps.
Seems silly, but I'm glad it went to a good home.

I wish I could come up with little bits and baubles of family things (I probably can, just looking in ALOT of boxes!) to make one of these lovely advent calendars. I too would keep it up all the time.
I absolutely love your blog, your thoughts, your photos. I plan on spending ALOT of time STUDYING your Christmas decorating. Thank you for sharing!
These are fabulous! What interesting items you chose!
wow very very beautiful..both of them. Do you then hang them on your tree each day?
I just LOVE this!
happy day!
You are so clever and artistic. That is a good way to save keys and such.
Hi Suzan
I love advent calendars and these are great... I think we mustn't be very christmassy here.. perhaps the fact it is summer... although it seems it is less and less each year... so I do enjoy the enthusiasm I see in blogland...
These calendars you have made are such a clever idea... Have fun xxx Julie
Oh my gosh, I love them both but you having your dad's bible on day 25 made me get all choked up. That is just about the sweetest thing ever. truly. I saw one posted by OneLuckyDay a while back and vowed to make one. hmmmmm tomorrow is day 1 and not a tag in sight! But if I do like you and keep it up year round well then maybe I can be a tad late!
Really beautiful. Theresa xoxo

These are beautiful. I love both of them but the first one really stood out for me. What a wonderful way to showcase items from your family, especially your Dad's bible.

I am so going to make one...
I love it...I love the one with your dad's bible on it too.
I need to dig out some mementoes.

Do you add one each day, or take away one each day?
Or leave it as is.
