Still At It

I'm still at it, the purge...only now I've moved upstairs to an
easy room to do: Mine.

There are over 6 patterns on this bed. I have to mix them up.
They are all in taupe/pale blue.
On each of my beds there are 2 top sheets,
one plain, one patterned.
In the hot summer heat here, you only use sheets
but you need the"weight" of two, one is not enough.
The plain sheet, ( white with brown/blue trim)
is placed on the bed so that the "right" side folds
over the patterned ( taupe/blue floral) sheet.
BTW- my ceiling is painted the perfect shade of blue.
I love it!

Then comes a quilt (plaid) folded back so if you need it
you can just grab the edge and it pulls up toward you.
Six pillows stacked behind the large European ( floral) shams.

Then the down comforter tucked inside a (floral) duvet.
Two stools ( another pattern, this time checks) are placed
at the foot to hold extra pillows and provide
a place to put on shoes.

I painted this plain pine dresser about 15 years ago.
I was ahead of the curve on the white thing. A brown striped
chair with ottoman nestles in the corner for reading.

I will never get rid of this chair. I have had it recovered twice.
It is the smallest chair with ottoman I have ever found
and it fits perfectly in this tiny corner.

If I am not doing the nocturnal decorating thing I am in
this chair reading.... a lot. I go through at least five books a week.
Gee, I think I have discovered the source of my sleep issues?

Photos done by Darling Daughter,
purses are from my Grandmothers.
White birds are one of my favorite gifts from Dearest Son,
handmade in his old hometown of Portland.
( whoops just noticed the corner of the fan)

This lamp was on my Father's night stand as far back as
I can remember. In it are his money clip with initials DJR,
a multi sided glass die, and his miniature knife.
As a small child I loved the scooped out indentation
meant for change I suppose.

In that small filigree heart is a lock of Hannah's hair,
from her first haircut. It used to hold my baby pinkie ring.

Pocket watches from my family.
******
The only thing you cannot see is an open white cabinet
filled with white and tan quilts.
It also contains my old TV which is not very pretty
so just imagine OK?

Are you trying to kill me with your gorgeous rooms Z?

Gosh I think there is not one corner in and around your home that I would not love.

The pocked watches are to die for, love that you displayed the back sides!

Your bed would fit for a Queen!

Sending you a big hug!

Good night! (well at least I'm going to bed now lol and I'll probably dream about living in your lovely home)

What is the white you have used in this bedroom?

Have already decided on my topic for PG. Have it all laid out in my head.

Wow...I love it all. I love a layered bed, except on Sundays when I change the sheets! I'm glad to know there is someone else who puts the sheets on the bed so that the pretty trim shows. People think I have them on upside down!

Wow! That is exactly what I'm envisioning for the 'one day I'll get to giving our bedroom a makeover' makeover!!! You have a beautiful, really beautiful. I gotta say I've never thought of or heard of using 2 sheets on the bed in the summer but it makes perfect sense. What a peaceful room to retreat to, I love it! Theresa

ummmm can I ask....was I snoring? Is that why you left me down there on the sofa....by myself.....alone.....in the dark?!?!

Your bedroom is beautiful but I think I prefer to sleep on the sofa thank mew! I mean since you are purging, I would be afraid you might decide the bed would have to go...with my luck I'd be asleep on it when it went.....not so much a "weeeeeee" but rather "eeeeeeeek, wait I'm on the bed, don't push it out the window......"

See my point?! Safer on the porch. Tell you what....I'll wait for you down there, okay?

Purrs (and snores?)

Whats to purge? This room is sheer perfection! I love all the personal touches and that canopy is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Thank you for a peek into your private sanctuary. Have a great weekend!

It's like a princess bed!!!! so pretty.
All the little details I really must go back and look some more.

If that's the one of the a/c rooms then I'd really have a hard time ever leaving.

You read 5 books a week...I'm lucky to read one a year!

ps...I'm going to go stick my head in the freezer now!
