Bedroom Refresh

I don't know about you, but I think 100 degree temp with 40%

humidity is the perfect time to deep clean and refresh your bedroom

even if it is the hottest room in the house.

So that's what I did yesterday.

The rug is new. I'm hoping that soon it will be over

hardwood floors but until then it hides a multitude of sins.

I need some carpet tape to help ease out the roll marks.

Saving that for the cooler evening. I'm still getting over

carrying the 50lb carpet up the stairs,

and hauling the mattress and box spring

out into the hall out of the way, and then

back in again.

I had visions of being found days later

under the impossible floppy, incredibly heavy mattress.

If you are new here, Yep, that's a very blue 1 3/4 vaulted ceiling.

Still blue 26 years later. Painted my third year here.

It's an odd conglomerate of color and style

for many folks I suppose,

but it is my taste, and so many things are special

to me from grandmothers, kids, and parents.

If it's repeating something already in the room,

be it color or pattern ( as in the checks) it works for me.

Cozier

I have had sheers in front of the bedroom windows

for over a decade and as I've embraced more color

back into my world, I decided to mix my blues

with a sienna color already in a chair in stools .

It took forever for the curtains to arrive ( after getting lost twice)

 but I'm glad I persevered.

The lighting in the room in early evening

and this morning was wonderful.

Yep, I always mix pattern willy nilly

when I use color, and my beds are always layers

upon layers of different top weights and pillows

of all depths to please a mood.

On the bed are a linen sheet set, then sienna woven blanket,
then a blue floral duvet, then a blue velvet quilt, topped with vintage quilt
and a new throw for naps. Two different patterned sham pairs and
Walter's throw pillows finish it off.

Lexington bedroom pieces I've had forever it seems.
Checked stools found at thrift shop 20 years ago?

Favorite vintage quilt, in pristine condition.
Artwork is mine from years ago.
Vintage framed purses were my Grandmother's.

The curtains into adjoining bath are burlap with a fringe bottom
I have also had for decades.

Still working on gallery wall on this side of room.

BTW the vaulted ceiling in here and adjoining bath is blue.

I have huge canopy thing I used to hang over the bed
which may or may not return and the green wreath above
bed will be changed out soon to a simple willow, or maybe not?

The canopy was a pain to clean but looked
romantic and fun...

Onto the next project

Refuge

Simply felted pieces this year in the master.
On the garland, wreath, birds, figures.
Add candles and a few touches of blue.
Refuge

The patterns in here are brown striped,
blue florals, brown checks,
cream/brown stripe, blue quilts, etc.
The ceiling is painted blue with heavy cream walls,
and cream wool patterned carpet.
All mixed together willy nilly.
The blue house painting is mine.
The photography darling daughters'.

I made this advent over 10 years ago.
Almost all are Rennie family pieces
including my Aunt Iva's frame.

Button hooks and eye wear were my Dad's collections.
As requested: a closer look at the felt birdies...
and a couple of the Sarah Lugg ornaments
 Howie DID NOT BREAK....
(remember he broke 4)

Have a great week,
if I don't see you before then.
