Merry Merry To You

The gifts are unwrapped,
the paper and ribbons gathered
up and put away.
The standing rib roast is just about
 to hit the oven
and my thoughts drift toward
the Yorkshire Pudding to come.
Breakfast was omelets with a little
Pride and Prejudice viewing post eating.
That scene of him walking
across the moors...
gets me every time...

The kids and I have spent each late night
watching Season 1 of Homeland, that
I purchased just for that purpose.
We have thoroughly enjoyed it,
and now I have to find a way to see Season 2.
Spending each evening with them
in pj's on the couch,
noshing on a variety of snacks
 has been...well exquisite....

We hit all our favorite stores last week,
and their Father treated them to many fabulous
meals about town, while I was at work.
Tonight they attend the annual
Christmas Day movie with him.

Dearest Son leaves for LA tomorrow
 and Darling Daughter
heads back to NYC, weather permitting,
on Thursday.
It will take me several days to adjust
and not be sad...even knowing they
return to good friends and significant
others who love them.

A few more days of holiday work and
then it's on to 2013 and job searches
and house redecorating/purging plans
and a return to my list of all those
 things left undone in 2012,
and moved over to the New Year.

I have been so blessed.

I wish peace, love and joy
to all of you this day....
and I pray each day
that soon this world will
end the hatred, greed,
dishonesty and cruelty
that makes this
gift of life so difficult
for so many.

I love finding you here
each day, each week.
You make my days brighter,
and fill my heart with laughter.
Thank you for your love,
your support and exceptional kindness.

Merry Merry to you all.

Z

Dear Suzan

How lovely everything sounds at your house.

We had Pride and Prejudice for our Christmas viewing and I could view Colin Firth every day of the week!!!

It is now Boxing Day in the southern hemisphere of our world and we are taking things easy now.
Well the others are, I'm back in the kitchen making some more Raisin Sauce to have with the ham and leftovers!

Make the most of having DS & DD at home for Christmas - such a precious time.

Christmas Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you for being a part of my blogging journey this year.
Joyeux Noël

much love
Shane

Your Christmas sounds cozy and family oriented, like ours and the year ahead will be filled with projects, so it is nice to have a family holiday together.

....and "Merry, Merry" to you.

Our holiday is spread over many days--some with lots of responsibilities; others with few. Our largest family gatherings lie ahead, so I'm taking a deep breath today - I've made my list/now checking it twice to be sure I'm prepared.

Happy to read of your full, good times with family. (I've jotted down "Homeland" as potential winter enjoyment!)

Sounds wonderful - all of it. Yorkshire pudding is a big favourite of mine and I love the idea of that and a roast for Christmas dinner - next year!
I'm up to the same things myself these days, listing, thinking of what I need and don't need, and so on...
And Pride & Prejudice is a big favourite of mine as well - do you watch the movie, or the BBC series? I have to say I think the BBC version is far, far superior...

Merry Merry to you Z~ That sounds like the perfect visit with the kids! It sounds just like ours, (minus a bug or two) just hanging out together, cooking, watching movies with a game of chess or dice thrown in for good measure. My favorite presents. Your wish for our world is perfection, I am hoping for the same. You brighten my world with your words, wit, love and friendship, thank you for that! Happy New Year! I just read on Madewell's fb page... don't make resolutions, make plans. I think I'm going to give that a try this year :)

oh, you must miss them!!!!!
But they are always in your heart and so always close to you.
You have been a busy beaver, cleaning up already and planing what's to come. I am still baking.....ummph...Christmas cookies, and all the gals are getting together for a "Christmas" luncheon on the 7th.
It is so wonderful to have family and friends to share the holidays with, and that includes all my blogger friends out there.
We are truly lucky gals!
Z, I wish you the very best for this new year. May all your wishes come true!
Warm hugs,
Evi

We have been so looking forward to Season 3 of Downton Abbey tonight! I haven't heard of Homeland but I'll have to look it up. How nice that you got to spend time with your children. I still have three at home but one is out on his own, engaged and setting up their place. It was hard to say our goodbyes on Christmas evening but at least he still lives in town. It's just hard to get used to a new way of being a family. =)

Blessings... Polly
