Back In The Studio

When the volcano candle from Anthro gets lit,
and my fingers start to sift through
the stacks of linen and
burlap and wool, well there must be
something new created.
I have purged most of my "store bought" decorations,
so this year, in my goal for a handmade
holiday... out came 12 days of Christmas
stockings for the upper railing.

Vintage MOP buckles, just enough in one jar,
and some luscious pearlized organza, some linen...

Some small grunge tags,
covered with a book page,
then stamped 1-12

Behind the railing, my memory wall,
mementos from friends, bloggie and life long.

A wee cone in  my Mom's tin,
and
a precious memory
typed some 40 years ago,
always, always Macky.

Oh my. I have been wondering about a post like this for a while (don't get me wrong, they're always great but I love your creative side too).
I don't even know where to start, between the stockings and the wall of fame or the gritty-yet-beautiful photos... love it all!

Love your memory wall, Z...and the mother of pearl buckles..wow. Looks so nice. I'm also doing my own small tree this year with only "scrounged" things that I'm making...paper scraps, "creations" with sticks from my oak tree out back, etc. Just doing some experimenting and putting my mind and hands to use without the jumble of Christmas "stores"...
Loved visiting your blog tonight. Thank you, as always.

Looks like a good life to me:-) I've been going through stockings I've made today because I'm trying to clean up my bedroom so I can paint in there and they were still lying in a pile from last christmas...oh my!!! Now they are neatly stacked in a box on the shelf of my closet...which makes no sense cause it's almost Christmas...I might be losing it!

Take care my friend,
Kathleen

I don't even know who Macky is and that makes me feel sad. Your stockings of course are perfect. Creating is good therapy!

Ok you know it's only October right? haha I won't be give you any s*** but I'm still throwing pumpkins around the house. Not throwing ...lightly placing:)
Love the stockings and the handmade items sounds wonderful to me. Ok I'm feeling more Christmasy the longer I write this. Sprinkle some glitter on me and stick me in the corner.

my goodness, you are way ahead of me. I am planning some homemade Christmas creations too. Love the stockings. I think, on a smaller scale, they would be great as an advent calendar.Would be nicer yet to have such a pretty way to display them like your memory wall.
Very clever, as always.
I am with Carole, still enjoying pumpkins etc, but getting ready for Christmas in my mind.
Heck...and getting ready for 2 more shows....lots of winter dolls etc.
You got me in the mood.

Evi

It's all beautiful, creative, and inspiring. What fun it must be to have your memory wall cheering you on as you create.

So...do you put things in those cute stockings? (:
