Simplify

Should I begin with the story of Howie locking himself in the bathroom today? (for those who don't know, Howie is a cocker spaniel). Actually that is misplaced blame as I did not notice he had curled up in the cool room to sleep and closed the door. When I heard scratching, I discovered the door was locked. How? I think Howie was playing games with me in retaliation for being neglected the  past few days. After 30 minutes of attempting to unlock the door and 2 frantic calls to SIL for advice - ( she has grandchild adept at locking situations)  After trying 6 different implements, success, hallelujah! and I swear he smirked as he calmly walked out..
HOWIE!

Other than that I, have been destroying the downstairs. Every room.
I had been anxiously awaiting the photo shoot to be over so that I could purge and pare down even more.
I started with the porch.

The tables are piled high and bins are full of items to be sold or given away. I love this feeling of examining and assessing. Getting to the basics.
Keeping only the useful,
 or items I favor.

Do you even remember what it looked like last year?

I have a lovely bottle rack coming, so the bakers table
top will change again once it arrives.

Last two days for giveaway. Ends Midnight Monday.
My humble thank you for the generous response.
Many of you have shared with me your joy
at finding these new friends.
I told you they were cool, and oh "the ribbon lady",
Carole, started a blog.
Welcome her, please.

Shadows and in the Shadows

The shadows in this shade
made my heart flutter.

She carries a very deep shadow on my heart.

Textures are tucked into the shadows of a cabinet.

Sitting in the shadows, at home for
awhile and not so far away.

The shadows are carved into this box.

My constant shadows.
Every time I type here, they sit there
in the shadows beneath my desk.
I can run my bare feet over their soft fur and
"fluff" their ears.
The snorts, the snores, and the dog biscuit
"odoriferous" results keep me company.

Architecture

Architecture to me always means vintage,
though that is an inaccurate assessment of the word.

Unable to live in a home with what I consider
to have real architecture, I hauled part of a
rooftop from a vintage home into my living room.
What can I say it makes me happy?

Many of my vintage cabinets and tables have
other people's names on them.

No, I did not borrow from them, nor are they waiting for my demise,
(at least I hope not), they are waiting for their
chance to own the piece, if and when I decide to sell.
Some pieces have as many as four names.

About this piece, I have had dozens of people say to me
" If you ever decide to get rid of that..."

But folks, I have to tell you, even if I decide to sell off everything,
which I threaten to do now and again and some day it may be necessary,
this piece will never be in the estate sale or the focus of an auctioneer's gavel.

If I have to strap it to the roof of my car and it finally
settles into a teensy studio apartment, it is staying with this gal.

It's not just architecture, it is character.
You cannot buy good character, and you
should never barter with it either.

You either have it or you don't.

Repetition In White

I was pondering Friday's photo challenge of repetition while
preparing some shots for White Wednesday.

I started with this cabinet, located just inside the front door.
Very quickly I noticed that nearly every vignette in my home is based
on repetition. Seriously, look at this display alone!
The jars, finials, fabric balls, birds, all in multiples.
Creme de la creme, check out the
mirror reflecting not one, but TWO more mirrors.

Panning just the front room alone, netted more examples of my
obvious attraction to multiples, to repetition. I will only show a few
or this post would be much too long.

Analysis would venture some theories I suppose.

Multiples are everywhere, I even had two children. :-0

Not satisfied with one necklace, I nearly always wear three.

Yep, more than one of these too.
Justice and Howie

OK, a reprieve. Just like my kids, one boy, one girl.
I may be repetitive, but I'm not obsessive.

I Confess

The first step is to admit you have a problem:
I have a white bowl problem: there it's been said.
See previous post here

These aren't all of them either, just the ones in the drawer.
Oh, for shame.
