Howie My Love

I lost Howie yesterday
I am heartbroken
Inconsolable

My dear best friend was not even given
 the grace to go gently.

I won't be around for awhile I suppose.
My constant companion has left
me floundering out in this harsh world
that I want no part of.

My heart is breaking for you. The pain of losing a child is the deepest there is. He was your baby boy, after all. I hope you are blessed with deep sleep with dreams of Howie at peace in a safe world. You don't know me, but I wish I could do something for you to ease your grief.

I am so very very sorry to hear about Howie. I can imagine, the pain, as I have been where you are today. Altho, my 17 year old, Toby died of a stroke 20 years ago, I will always have that empty place in my heart. My best friend's Sadie, also died after oral surgery, because of her age. You just don't expect that...One never forgets a pet, but the pain does get softer. My heart breaks for you, you have my deepest sympathy. Take care.

The heart break from losing your fur baby, best friend, forever companion is like nothing else I have ever experienced. It's a pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. When we had to say goodbye to our Bella at the beginning of last December, I thought that I would die from my broken heart. It still hurts almost a year later but I promise you that it will get better. I don't know if you believe in this kind of stuff or not, but my brother-in-law went to see a psychic not too long ago. His father came through to him and the first thing he told him was that all of his dogs were with him in heaven and the biscuits and gravy were the best! Knowing that all of his dogs were with him makes me feel better because I know they will be waiting for me someday, just like your little Howie will be too. Rest in peace sweet boy.

Ugh I am so sad for you! Boy, do I know that woe. BUT.. take some comfort in the fact that he had such a good, loving home with you. The very best a dog could ever hope for.

Sending heartfelt sympathy to you. Just like many of your readers, I have been there so many times. We look to our pets for comfort but who is to comfort us the same unconditional way when they are lost? A lifetime of dogs is one of the reasons I believe in a Heaven as my fondest wish is that they are all there waiting for me. How lucky we are that you shared Howie's life with us on these pages.
