Flummoxed

Bewildered
Nonplussed
Bemused
Muddled
Discombobulated

Anyone else out there feeling like this?
Nothing concrete enough for me to grasp and clench, just an unrest,
uncertainty tinged with an unsettled gut.

I could chalk it up to Darling Daughter returning to college, or my political
frustrations ( Rich, you got the brunt of that, sorry) or the consistent
Iranian, Pakistani, Afghani, ______(fill in the blank) unrest
that permeated the Sunday broadcasts.

Maybe it's just the unrelenting heat and zero rain we have
experienced here in the desert. 17 year old bushes that have
always flourished before in my yard, and towering ash trees,
now equally tinged with brown tips.

Perhaps it is the trials facing dear friends as they struggle
with financial, personal and health issues.

I can summon a happy grin in an instant, and still
find laughter and joy in every hour..but there is still
"muddleness"...perplexing, head shaking, what the heck is it,
dark clouds a-comin' muddleness...muddliness?
(since both are made up words, choose preferred spelling)

I comprehend and appreciate my bountiful blessings,
and never for a moment does uncertainty replace
these gifts of family, friends and health.

Until the boom is lowered, the sky falls, the end is near,
the unforeseeable is seen, the last straw falls upon the hump,
and the well runs dry...I remain flummoxed,
and wary.

or, maybe I'm just hungry....

Hope you feel better Suzan, but I just wanted to let you know I can sure relate to the once beautiful green plants that are now crunchy, brown and crisp! I find that alone is depressing. Some rain would be so nice!

Suzan I feel the same way and have on and off for a long time now. I think it's called bi-polar disease...:)
I do know how you feel though, I am angry one minute and hopeful the next and generally CONFUSED! I keep trying to work through it but if you find a quick solution please let me know!

I had a very bad night yesterday and today unrest also. I have a feeling of something bad going to happen, which I took as going to happen to one of my kids. Hopefully wrong on that count. I am unsettled and teary and don't know why.

I FIND THINGS TO BE A CONSTANT STATE OF FLUX AND IT'S NOT A SECURE FEELING. IT'S SORT OF LIKE WAITING FOR THE OTHER SHOE TO DROP, BUT NO ONE KNOWS WHEN OR WHY.

I THINK ALL OF THE FACTORS YOU STATED IN YOUR BLOG HAVE LEFT A LOT OF US FEELING THE SAME WAY, BUT CAN'T REALLY PUT A FINGER ON WHY! UNEASY, PERHAPS? SUMMER BLAHS?

Hi Z,
I know this feeling...it usually comes to me when my husband is hours late from getting off his shift and I haven't heard a word and cannot get through on his cell phone. But it is just a feeling of overall unease. Then he gets home and I am fine.
And sometimes it's just hormones...I blame everything on hormones,LOL!
hugs to you from here...

Malaise is the word I use for it. Make your favorite drink, sit in your favorite chair and DO NOTHING. See if that helps. Or go for a really long walk and then take a nap. Best wishes to you for the duration and beyond.~Karmen

I know exactly this feeling. I have been feeling this for a couple of weeks now and I a so tired of it! Maybe it's my big move coming up and me being responsible for the whole thing on my own this time. Who knows. But I hope it goes away soon. Until then, I'll think of all of the wonderful people and things in my life. Feel better!!
Sincerely,
Melinda

I love how you put your feelings and thoughts out into the world. At times I feel that way too....as if something sudden (perhaps even tragic) is about to cause me heartache. Is it a sixth sense who knows, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels these feelings too:)

You might not be hungry anymore but I'm starving and I just saw a picture of myself that g took and I'm now going to just eat cucumbers for the rest of my life.
He's never allowed to use my camera again:))

Listening to the news always gets me depressed...and then so do dried out plants. rrr!
it rained for about 5 seconds and that was it.

Heading home and working out til I pass out!
Hope you feel better soon

I would go with the first thing... darling daughter back to school. I am in a funk that I really need to shake, but with Cams departure date sneaking up on me, I find myself tearing up at the sightest thing. I wish I could say that I'll just shake it off but I know that is just not going to happen! It will take, creating some fun art, hugs from the little ones and time well spent with him before he leaves. Whenever one leaves my nest I am like this for a while then I look around at the others still here and let their love help me out of it. The price of being a mom. I hope your funk of sorts, ishy wishy is gone soon! Do something special for yourself soon! Theresa xo

We took our daughter to college today and lost a friend in death so I can relate. The heat is also getting to me. I have stopped watching the news because I tend to yell at the TV which is not good. At the same time I fully appreciate how incredibly blessed I am in spite of it all. hugs♥olive

Whiskers are sticking out straight. Straighter than straight. Is there a word for that?!

Why?

Because "she" has been expressing the very same thing now for about a week and a half. Kind of an "out of sorts" feeling but certainly nothing you could put a paw to and quelch or squish or swallow with some warm milk and be done with. No, nothing that easy or identifiable.

Flummoxed.

We both learned a new word this evening.

Flummoxed. "She" is. Has been. But hopefully will not continue to be.

Me? Doing just fine thank you, even if I did have to put on a tutu to brighten her last post. Non-flummoxed. Purrhaps if I sleep on her head, osmosis will occur and "she" too will be non-flummoxed. If it works I'll be sure and let Howie know. I'm sure he'd like to be helpful with the matter.

He is out of the doghouse isn't he?

Purrs.

I'm sorry that you are feeling this way and I hope it passes quickly. I do think that this hideous heat that seems to be on us everywhere isn't helpful. Maybe the change of weather (which they assure us will happen) will help.

Amazing--I have been experiencing the same feeling--just couldn't put a word to it, but "flummoxed" will do! Lots going on unresolved--I guess it's getting to me!

Seems to be an epidemic of muddle.

Hope we are not "on to something"

So flummoxed is the word for this state of mind and discombubolated? I think I can relate to it.
My daughter is now living in Tonawanda near Buffalo and since she's gone Riley our tomcat is gone too, well the day after her departure that was. I wait for him since 3 nights :( and can't sleep not knowing what has happened to sweet little him. Praying he might come back safe & sound any minute!
Oh well Z I think we just to have hang in there and wait for better times again.

Thanks for your kindness and advice to me Suzan. It seems a lot of us are going through 'something' at the moment.
You are right...forgiveness is healing...I'm not quite there yet, but definitely on the road.
Time allows perspective and in the meanwhile i'm putting my hands in the dirt..Mother Nature is soothing.

Oh your post made me smile, and I gave a heartly laugh at your last line, Maybe I'm just hungry. LOL Needed to read this today, I think alot of us are in the same boat lately. We need a change of seasons for sure. Hang in there! Kit

oh dear Suzan
must be something in the air.. I've been feeling.. well out of sorts is the polite term.. for a few weeks now... [as you know]... in fact i think i'd been denying a certain feeling for a while.. and the more i denied it the more i felt anxious for what seemed like no reason...

and then i finally lost it this week... hahaha.. oh well..

hope things pick up for you... xxx Julie

I hear you girl....the political climate globally is unsettling enough, then on top of that..all this weather "stuff". It feels like there is a storm on the horizan...in more ways than one.
I need to stay focused on the blessings. If I don't, I'll go nutso.
Hope things get brighter for you dearie.
